Terms of Service
Plain-language summary first, full terms below. This is an experimental testnet — read section 1 before anything else.

1. This is a testnet — SGNL has no monetary value
2. Accounts and self-custody
You may mine or hold a wallet without creating an account (the browser webminer generates a wallet client-side; native tools store an encrypted wallet file locally) — for that path, nothing about your key or password ever reaches our servers. If you create an account (email/password or Google sign-in), your wallet's private key is encrypted in your browser before the encrypted copy is sent to us — the raw key itself is never transmitted, and we do not decrypt or store a decrypted copy of it. To be precise about what that guarantee actually is: logging in does send your account password to our servers (over TLS) to check it, and we also store your encrypted wallet — so at the moment of every login we technically hold what's needed to decrypt it, even though nothing here does. If you lose your password and haven't kept your own backup, we have no decrypted copy on file to recover it from, and no way to walk you through recovering it either. Losing access to your account or wallet backup means losing access to that wallet, permanently. This is by design (self-custody for the accountless path; a deliberate trade-off for password-based recovery on the account path), not a support gap we can fix after the fact.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to: attempt to disrupt, overload, or attack the network or its infrastructure beyond normal mining/mempool use; submit fabricated data (e.g. hand-crafted hits that don't correspond to genuine Breakthrough Listen detections — the protocol already rejects these automatically, see the whitepaper's section on hit authenticity, but deliberately attempting it is still against these terms); use the service for anything unlawful.
4. No warranty, no liability
The network, site, and any associated tools are provided "as is," with no warranty of any kind — no guarantee of uptime, correctness, or continued operation. As an experimental prototype with no financial value at stake, we don't accept liability for any loss arising from its use, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
5. Changes
These terms, like the protocol itself, may change as the project evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date above.
